Supporting refugee and asylum-seeker
women and their children
through trauma-informed, gentle movement,
connection, and community.
what is maitrī?
Maitrī [ noun. /m⋅eye⋅tree/ ] is a Sanskrit word (मैत्री) often translated as loving-kindness — a spirit of compassion, goodwill, and gentle care for all beings. The concept appears in early contemplative traditions, where it describes an attitude of openness and warmth cultivated within ourselves and for others.
Inspired by this spirit of kindness and connection, our Maitrī sessions offer trauma-informed, gentle yogic movement and restorative, restful practices designed to support refugee and migrant women. Through quiet spaces of movement, breath, and connection, these gatherings nurture wellbeing, dignity, and a sense of belonging.
